Identity & Access Management

MyAccess, UCSF’s centralized, “reduced sign on” service, will launch May 23. AutoAccess, a locally-developed access management system for UCSF business systems, will be integrated with MyAccess on June 2, along with a wireless pilot project and the Gartner portal. Addition integration projects are currently in planning and design. UCSF expects to join InCommon and UCTrust within the next nine months.

Administrative Systems

PeopleSoft Upgrade and P2P: A PeopleSoft 9.0 upgrade and pilot launch of P2P (Procure-to-Pay) were successfully completed February 25th.   Feedback from pilot groups has generally been positive, and issues identified by pilot users have resulted in some system changes. Phased campus deployment will begin July 14th after fiscal year-end.

Mainframe Upgrades: Mainframe systems at UCOP were upgraded to DB2 v8 during the weekend of May 17-18th.

Time and Attendance/Vacation Leave Accrual: Conceptual design is underway for an on-line time reporting system for the UCSF campus. The implementation strategy has been finalized and will involve a phased deployment for monthly and biweekly groups. The first phase is currently targeted to go live in July 2009.

Faculty Advancement System: The Program Management Office (PMO) is working with Academic Affairs to finalize scope and planning documents for a custom-built system to capture, track and report on faculty advancement processes. The goal of the Faculty Advancement project is to enable online generation of a faculty dossier coupled with document attachment functionality. The system will automate the routing and approval steps to standardize and streamline the advancement process, in addition to making the dossier more readily available to the user.

Committee on Human Research (CHR): The PMO is working with the Committee on Human Research office to review vendor solutions for the management of CHR protocol submissions. We anticipate making a vendor decision in the next couple of months.

Enterprise Network Services

A high-level campus advisory group has recommended a phased cost-recovery program to support the maintenance and development of campus IT network infrastructure, including the metro-area network, inside plant infrastructure to the IDF, perimeter network security systems and email. The next step is the appointment of a recharge oversight committee. Work continues on the new metro-area network (NGMAN) and a new wireless network.

Academic Research Systems

The Secure Data Environment service is now available for investigators and their collaborators. Planning for an integrated clinical data repository is underway.

Educational Systems

The Educational Systems Advisory Committee recently completed a strategic plan for educational systems and technology. Plans for the PRIME telemedicine program are underway, the School of Medicine is developing a program for the use of electronic portfolios, and the Library is leading an effort to develop a replacement for the WebCT course management environment using Moodle.

Governance

UCSF’s IT governance structure is undergoing transformation.
