Wireless Project Archive: Introductory Announcement
We are pleased to announce the UCSF Campus Wireless LAN Project, spearheaded by the Office of Academic and Administrative Information Systems (OAAIS). The project is a strategic initiative for the UCSF community and for OAAIS, and progress is well underway.
We are really excited about this enterprise because it entails upgrading the Campus wireless technology in a way that will significantly improve coverage and system reliability for UCSF’s faculty and students. The benefits are two-fold: One, we will increase the wireless network services in general instructional areas as well as in public areas; two, the new wireless technology enables OAAIS to monitor and manage the wireless services while providing tools for greater system security.
The new wireless services will be implemented in specific areas at the Parnassus, Mission Bay, Mission Center and Laurel Heights locations. We expect the Parnassus site to be operational by late Summer 2008.
Updates on the continuing progress of this initiative will be posted to this web page regularly, so please keep a lookout for news and announcements.
