Information needed to do a search
The Faculty and Staff Directory contains three search fields:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Department
You may use one or more of these fields in processing your search request. Partial name searches are allowed if you are unsure of the spelling. Wildcard searches are also available.
If your search does not yield the listing you are looking for, scale back your search:
- Eliminate the department name, if you initally used it
- Use only the first letter or two of the last name, if you initially used it
- Use only the first name or last name
The directory is able to cross-reference searches with certain nicknames to produce a more encompassing result set. For example:
- A search for "Robert" will also pull up "Bob"
- A search for "William" will also pull up "Bill"
To search for names that you don't know how to spell, there are three options.
- Enter only the name you know, but be prepared for a lot of results
- Example: LAST NAME=Roth and can't remember first name, so leave it blank
- Results: 17 listings where the last name begins with 'Roth'
- Enter as much of the name as you are sure of into the first and/or last name fields
- Example: FIRST NAME=Kath and LAST NAME=Bl
- Results: Kathleen Black and Katherine Blazer
- Use the like-search character, underscore ( _ ), to replace any part of a name you are unsure of
- Example: FIRST NAME=Robin and LAST NAME=Anders_n
- Results: Robin Andersen and Robin Anderson
- Example: FIRST NAME=_atherine and LAST NAME=Bianco
- Results: Catherine Bianco and Katherine Bianco
