Getting VPN Access
Requesting a vpn@UCSF Account
Before requesting a vpn@ucsf account, please contact your departmental computer support coordinator (CSC) to see if there are any specific departmental policies or configuration settings which might be required.
Please note: If you are a student or need to access the Medical Center VPN service you have different instructions.

VPN Services
Getting a VPN User ID
- Go to the Online Customer Support page.
- Click on the Login to Online Customer Support link.
- Login according to the instructions on the login page.
- Click on the New Request link on the left of the screen under Quick Links.
- Complete the New Request screen:
- Do not enter anything in to the Urgency and Requested Date fields; the request will automatically be processed as soon as possible by the Help Desk staff.
- Click on the down arrow icon next to the Summary.
- Click on Network from the pop-up menu.
- If you are using a non-Windows system, please click on VPN - Create New Account for Ma. Otherwise please click on VPN - Create New Account for PC.
- Please enter the reason for your VPN request in the Details field - this is not required but helps us understand how the VPN systems are being used.
- Verify the information which appears in the Requester Information box. If this is not correct Customer Support will be unable to process your request.
- Click on the Submit button to send the request.
- You will see a pop-up informing you that Customer Service has been notified of your request.
- Click on the Logout button to leave the Online Customer Support system.
- OAAIS Customer Support will notify you of your VPN ID and password.
