Next Generation Metropolitan Area Network (NGMAN) Project
January 2009
It’s one thing to talk about a major project like the Next Generation Metropolitan Area Network (NGMAN), or the Data Center, conceptually. It’s something else entirely to see it actually under construction.
For those of us who work at MCB, or who have traveled here today, you may have noticed the sidewalk disruption on 15th Street, or maybe you’ve heard the mellow sounds of a jackhammer at work. This is the work being done to bring NGMAN into the MCB Core Site.
Below are two photos taken of the NGMAN trench into MCB. One photo looks west toward Folsom Street, the other photo looks east toward Harrison Street.
Of course, similar work is either underway - or will be soon - at the other core sight locations (Parnassus and Mission Bay). Eventually work will commence at Laurel Heights, SFGH and 654 Minnesota. So keep an eye out for those trenches and the NGMAN construction.
