iPhone 3.0 ActiveSync Configuration
The iPhone ActiveSync configuration uses the same account credentials as when you log in to the web mail client (OWA) at exchange.ucsf.edu. For illustrative purposes we are using the account ‘Demoacct, Jane’ as an example. Please substitute your actual account credentials when setting up your iPhone.
Requirements needed prior to connecting your iPhone to your mail@UCSF account
- Activate your iPhone using Apple's "Getting Started" instructions before you set up your Exchange configuration.*
-
Enable
the ActiveSync protocol on your mail@UCSF account
(Requires logging in to help.ucsf.edu: User ID and Password Help )**
*Activation requires installation of the most recent version of iTunes on your mac or PC. Additionally, software updates and back-ups/restorations require a cabled connection of your device to this computer. We recommend performing these steps on the computer you use most frequently.
**The use of the ActiveSync protocol includes the enforcement of minimal security standards on the iPhone. Even though the system is set to allow 15 minutes before device lockout, the iPhone only supports a 5 minute maximum.
