Identity and Access Management

Andrew Wissmiller presented updates on identity and access management efforts (see attachment). There have been two successful pilots - Gartner and OAAIS wireless. Heidi Schmidt and Andrew are working with the Steering Committee to prioritize integration projects for the next year. Several projects already underway could benefit from integration with centralized identity and access services. For example:

  • Enterprise wireless
  • E*GME
  • SumTotal
  • Sentillion

The CIO’s decided to establish the goal of single sign-on across the enterprise. Although it may not be immediately achievable, all systems should be developed in alignment with this objective.

DECISION: The Campus and the Medical Center will share an identity management system and work together toward single sign-on capability.

The CIO requested Andrew and Heidi produce an identity and access management “roadmap” for discussion at the April CIO meeting.

ACTION ITEM: Heidi Schmidt and Andrew Wissmiller will produce an identity and access management roadmap.

There were some specific questions about the technical architecture of the enterprise wireless project.

ACTION ITEM: Jeff Fritz will be invited to the next CIO meeting to discuss the wireless project.

IT Governance

Opinder Bawa reported the School of Medicine is discussing the development of an internal IT governance structure and asked what its relationship to other campus IT governance organizations might be. It was recommended the School of Medicine governance group work with ASAC if there are plans for administrative systems that involve other Schools.
