Jon Showstack welcomed the group’s newest member, Michael Hindery. Michael is the Vice Dean for Administration, Finance and Clinical programs in the School of Medicine.
Wireless Update (Jeff Fritz)
Jeff presented an update on the UCSF campus wireless LAN project. Wireless service will be installed in specific locations at Parnassus, Mission Bay, MCB and Laurel Heights. The first priority is teaching spaces at Parnassus. MyAccess will provide authentication. ENS is currently working with CPFM to determine construction costs.
MyAccess Update (Heidi Schmidt)
The production environment is still under development and a decision is needed regarding the naming convention. Heidi distributed a briefing describing the naming convention proposed by the project team. Larry Lotenero noted that the proposed naming convention cannot be used for access to clinical records since the law requires the use of a single, non-changeable, user name for clinical records. A project roadmap will be delivered by the end of March.
Medical Center Updates (Larry Lotenero)
Medical Center Network – recent network outages were due to a router problem, which has been identified and resolved.
Way-finding – There is an effort underway in the Medical Center to improve service to visitors through a “way-finding” system, similar to those used by other medical center campuses. Larry asked for OAAIS participation in the exploration process, and Jon agreed to provide it.
Forensics – Larry suggested developing consistency between the Medical Center and the campus in processes and practices pertaining to computer forensics.

Due to time constraints, some updates were deferred to the next meeting. They include:
