To Send a Message Directly, Without Calling the Recipient

A few pointers worth remembering:

  1. Your mailbox number is a 5-digit number, usually the last 5 digits of your telephone number. If you are part of a message center, your mailbox number will be a fictitious 5-digit number that will be assigned to you.

  2. Your password must be at least 6 (six) digits and can be up to 14 (fourteen) digits.

    • You will assign yourself a password when you initialize your mailbox.
    • Your password can be changed at anytime.
    • The system will not accept too-common passwords such as 111111,123456, etc.
  3. By pressing 0 (zero) at anytime, the Octel system is programmed to explain the option you are currently in.

    • The explanation will be more detailed and is user-friendly.
  4. When pressing 8 to respond to a message, always press the pound (#) key after you are finished.

    • To listen to your message before sending it, press1.
  5. You may also change your prompt level (prompt level refers to the amount of explanation given with each prompt).

    • Refer to your user’s manual for instructions on how to do this.
